Dear Closet Diary....
Well, here I am, Queen of The Affordable Accessories heading into my 2nd Holiday Season. Let's see what has changed since opening day of 11/9/07? Well, our new, 'oh so' fabulous space here at 68 South Street (Hingham Square behind ChelBella) (yes BEHIND yet another business BUT great location, visibility and rent).. I don't need binoculars to see what's happening in the square as Red Coat Lane (love that!) is a bustling little section of the square. Pat the Tailor (really, there should be a revolving door) George Loring, the kooky motorcycle riding photog, Ann the florist (note to girls, turn heat off at night, it's killing her flowers!!) our new BF's at Saison's skin care, etc.
A definate increase in business due to new location and our continued shameless self promotion (yes, the bags hanging on hooks outside the shop were my idea AND they have brought in customers!!) The "Bag of Bling" I came up with has been a popular item at local fundraisers and I will be on the road for the next few weeks doing 'trunk shows', school fundraisers, etc.....Parents weekend at AU last weekend and we were able to sneak an afternoon trunk show in and donate $100 to AU Spirit (Camille is a cheerleader now, more on that later). The twinkle lights are up, the closet doors are off and shelves are painted (with my new kicky dress on and nary a spill on it, bravo to me) and tomorrow I can fill them with displays (Thank you Carolyn for that brilliant suggestion, after all, it is the Closet!!)
The mortgage business has ceased to exist for the most part and has left me working here full time, LOVING the fact that I have a reason to get dressed up and socialize everyday and NOT be stressed out by a business that I, quite frankly, disliked so inasmuch as it is done with me (and millions of others) I am done with it. I was happy to help a lot of wonderful clients (keep calling and I'll refer you to my company!) but current economic conditions that will, mark my words, continue to spiral downward (not, of course, for those looking for AMAZING bargains here at the Closet!!!) and the mortgage lending business will continue to deteriorate so
buh-bye. And, certainly what can top going to NYC each month and shopping wholesale? Answer: NOTHING (well, hitting the lottery would be nice but one step at a time). And speaking of hitting the lottery..... (hello seque) that's what it's like to shop the closet! BE THERE ..... IN THE SQUARE......
